Well, Sunday morning saw the sun shinning, and good old Huey turned on the pulse in the swell for the Grommies to strut their stuff! After quick deliberation, it was decided to hold the contest on “The Point”.

Tents set up, flags flying, sponsors banners lining the path and BBQ firing the residents of Avoca and visitors alike were well aware of our presence, and after some earlier technical difficulties with the hooter the show was on the road.

There was no shortage of quality surfing produced by the young guns, in the high performance 3/4 foot “point” waves, which caught the attention of surfers and onlookers on the day, with big off the lips, cranking cutties, barrels, 360's, wipe outs — you name it — the groms laid it on! Good on ya guys you all put on a fine show of talented surfing.

Thanks Goatman for coming down, sitting in the sun (with a hang over) and head judging the whole contest, with the assistance of the injured Michael Bain (with no hang over, he's only 12). Also, special thanks to Natalie Wills and Lisa Hay for running the BBQ and keeping us all fed. You guys are heaps better looking than Ronnie (no offense mate!).

Overall, the day was great with everyone having heaps of fun and good waves! At the end of the day we had our raffle draw and the big cash prize winner was Miles Kable, there were also several other winners in the raffle all receiving surf paks containing surf mags, DVD and wax.
