Next comp tomorrow
Tomorrow, Sunday 20 March 2010 is the next competition. Be sure to get down there and hopefully score some nice Autumn waves. Fingers crossed. There's going to be a information tent about the campaign against the sinking of the HMAS Adelaide off Avoca Beach in a little over a week's time. Be sure to check it out and bring along friends and family members so they can learn more about it. There's going to be a sausage sizzle there too.
Lovey's rant
Hey all,
Well, what a start to the year we've had, state team champs, runner up national champs, excellent Kirra teams challenge result and one of the biggest starts to a home comp I've seen. Good to have all our new members on board and I hope all our new grommies had a great day in their new club. Just a reminder to all our new members that we have a presso back at our clubhouse after all our comps, where our raffle is drawn and other prizes are on offer.
Our club shirts are in the process of being designed and should be ready soon, all members will receive one as part of their membership. Also, due to popular demand were printing up some new black team singlets that will be on sale at the next comp; as well as a selection of other t–shirts from past years at discounted prices. Don't forget that our club has a large and dedicated team of sponsors that support our club every year — they appear in blue on our news letter every month — so get in and support them as they do us.
The annual Tubes for Googs comp was slightly delayed this year but will go ahead on April 16—18. this is one of the best comps going around due to its camaraderie and good will, so jump on board and get involved! You wont be disappointed.
Thanks also go out to all helpers and supporter of the No Ship rally at Avoca the other day its great to see so many club members getting behind this cause and helping out we hope it's not all in vain.
Our annual trip to Treachery is going ahead this year on May 14—16. We are hoping for a big turn out and are trying to have a grommies/junior comp against a local team up there. So, clear the decks for that weekend as it's a great couple of days.
Our next comp is on March 21st and our April comp will be pushed back to May 2nd as April is a busy month with Easter and school holidays.
Forgot to welcome our new sponsors for this year, they being Kahveh Cafe, Hi Tide Take Away, Avoca's Hair Affair, and Avoca Pizza and Pasta.
The most important job you have on comp day (other than winning your heat) is judging your club mate's heat 2 heats after you surf — so don't dordle around chatting away. You need to get dried, pick up your judging sheet and get down to the judging area ready for the start of the heat. You wouldn't want any of your waves missed, so switch on and get the job done. If you've not judged before let us know and we'll show you how.
Cheers, Lovey
