Central Coast Titles 2009

We are very fortunate to have such a large contingent of grommits who rip within our club. They took this form with them when they competed at the Central Coast Regional Titles held at Shelley Beach. The boys and girls were all vying for positions on the Central Coast Team to compete at the upcoming State Titles.

The waves on offer were pretty bad (shit at best) but this didn’t stop ABC members from dominating the event.

Sandy, or Chunks as he likes to be called, scored a 3rd in the U12’s. Unfortunately this age group doesn’t go any further, but a great result from Sandy who has a number of years left in this age group.

Teague took out the U14’s from Brendo. These two continued their dominance in this age group, now having won the last 3 Central Coast Titles between them.

Joshy looked to have the U16’s all sewn up but was done up by one of the Shelley boys. Beau made the final and earned a creditable 3rd.

Wade was a standout, he gets better every time he hits the water. He took out the U18’s.

All the boys mentioned above made the team, they are joined by Thommo U16’s and Dylan U18’s.

Of the girls, Lulu and Monique made the team with a 2nd and 3rd respectively in the U18 girls division.

Harry, Tyler and Setts all surfed well on the day but couldn’t find the better waves.

If we dominated the grommy divisions, we were under represented at the Central Coast Surfmasters with only a handful of ABC members having a go. Dane Atcho, the current Australian Champ, led the charge. He was ripping through all the early heats but was starved of waves in his semi. Along with Adam Robbo in the 40’s who snuck into 3rd, they were the only 2 make the team.

Liam Barron was the unluckiest surfer, as he absolutely smashed his heat and then finished 3rd, very harsh.

Hopefully they can all make a mark at the State Titles.
