August newsletter and Dave Moore Benefit Night

Posted on August 14, 2008 21:04

There've been 2 competitions since the last website update, sorry 'bout that. There will be some photos and results from the July comp up shortly. The annual Sanga comp happened a week or so ago and hopefully there will be some photos and news from the day soon too.

Tonight (sorry about the late notice), Friday the 15th of August, is the Dave Moore Benefit Night at the Avoca Bowlo. Lovey puts it best:

“Call to arms, all proud avoca board riders its time to stand up and be counted. Lets get behind one of our brothers and come to the bowlo on Friday night. Tell a friend, bring ten the Moore the merrier. A few bucks here and there goes a long way. Also if any one can donate any thing to raffle or auction on the night it will go down a treat , just bring it along and get it to Goat or Lovey. Cheers brothers.”

More details are on the event page and Trophy mentions this in his Preso's report at the end of this news post.

August newsletter

Hey all,
Ah, those lovely 3 foot closeouts in front of the lake, a real case of de–ja–vu. Despite the waves another great contest with some strong results in all divisions. Some of the younger guys notched up their first wins for the year. Young Robo and Willsy ripped up their heats as the waves once again improved for the finals. Itâ??s good to see more guys hanging around and helping out, with setting up, packing up and spotting, thatâ??s what a strong club is all about.

The new judging system seems to be working well and every one soon caught on, you are judging your mates so take some care 'cause it matters.

As we head towards preso time you all need to start thinking about nominations for dummy spit, turd award, and wooden spoon. These awards carry great history and prestige in our club and nominations can be given to any of the committee from now on.

Paintball

As some of you are aware the M.O.B. have put down a challenge for a war with paint. You must be over 16 the total cost for the day is $170 and is on September 27th. Now were trying to put in our youngest team but at the moment the older guys are the keenest, so get on board and come kick some M.O.B arse.
Bag of bones in his pocket, get any thing you want.

Naming rights

Shaun Oldfield is having a competition to name his new baby when it arrives (unless it has already arrived — it's due about now). All suggestions can be given to Grandpa Oldfield at the next ABC bash. Any names that resemble Disney characters or old–school surfers get top priority (like MP–nocchio or Peter Pan).

Fires

Can someone please teach the groms how to build a decent fire and not an Indian smoke–signal fire. Groms, it's all in the kindling teepee.

Preso's report

Hey crew,
At the time of writing I am at Foster with the guys from the Central Coast junior team at the state titles. There is a good representation from the club with Lulu Han in the u16's girls; Brendo Hays in the 14's; Beau Wills, Dylan King, Isaac Capilli and Josh Hay in the 16s; and Wade Carmichael and Shaun Wills in the 18s. All are yet to surf, so check our site for updates.

I hope everyone is looking forward to the annual Sanga day comp where we honour a past brother and a champion surfer, so get in early and book some air time.

On a sad and serious note one of our members family is doing it tough at the moment. Dan Moore is one of our up and coming surfers, but his father is currently in hospital and is not well at all, so all of his brothers want to kick in and help out with some fund raising to take a little bit of stress off their shoulders. So over the next few months if your asked to kick in or help out in some way, have a go,cause that's the way we do it round here.
Ok guys, see ya next comp
